THE ENGAGE INITIATIVE

Over 60 years ago, a handful of people felt the Lord leading them to start a church in our area and to pour themselves into helping transform people's lives in this community. They began our Church with no building and little resources, only a heart to make a difference locally and globally.

Through the years, there have been many changes - name changes and location changes. Sacrifices were made, including years of rental space worship where our motto was, "if you can find us you, can worship with us." But one thing that has not changed is the heart to engage our community and the world with the love of Jesus, "helping people move from where they are to where God wants them to be."

And now, we're ready to begin the next season of ministry here at Cross Bridge. As our leadership has prayed and planned together, we truly believe we're ready to reach the next generation of believers here in our community and beyond. In order to do this, we are beginning a 3-year journey called, "The ENGAGE Initiative." This initiative involves two specific commitments that we are asking everyone to prayerfully consider.

FIRST

We will need to make a relational investment as we each commit to building a friendship with one local person who has not encountered the life-changing love of Jesus. We call this "your ONE." Ultimately, we should all have more than one person we are doing this with, but we should all have at least one person we are helping take steps toward Jesus.

SECOND

We will each make a financial investment as we prepare our property for the next season of ministry here at Cross Bridge. Our leadership has been dreaming of new and unique ways to position or facilities and give us new opportunities to build bridges with those in need here in the community and worldwide.

What does your giving go toward?

The Barbara Murphy Memorial Student Center, Pavilion, & Shaded Playground

We will construct the Barbara Murphy Memorial Student Center & Pavilion on the south side of our property. This facility will allow us to reach more young people and their families, give us additional worship space on Sunday and other nights of the week, and the pavilion will provide us with much needed fellowship space for Connect Groups and Ministry Teams to meet throughout the week.

Next to the new Student Center, we will build what we believe to be one of the best, shaded playgrounds in our community. Additionally, we will grade the adjoining field to include a full, high-school sized basketball court. Both of these will provide new ways to invite "your ONE" to Cross Bridge and give our church new ways to meet people where they are and help them move to where God wants them to be.

Partnership with Tenwek Hospital

As we continue our efforts to share Jesus abroad, we will begin a partnership with Tenwek Hospital as we give $30,000 each year to sponsor the educational costs of one OBGYN Doctor in Kenya.

We were thrilled to have the opportunity to already give $30,000 this past May (2021) and are excited to see what God will do through this partnership in the future.

Nazarene Compassionate Ministires

This Christmas, through the ENGAGE INITIATIVE we will give $10,000 to The Shechem Children’s Home. The Shechem Children's Home is a short-term assessment center for children like Hannah and Christie: survivors of online sexual exploitation of children (OSEC). This is a form of human trafficking where images or videos of children performing sexual acts are sold over the internet. It is a growing problem globally and in the Philippines, where Shechem is located.
